How to Report a Supplement Problem: MedWatch, the Seller and Your Clinician

Quick answer

If you have a bad reaction to a supplement, stop using it, get medical care and report it. MedWatch is FDA's program for reports by consumers and health professionals, through an online Report a Problem form. Companies must report serious adverse events to FDA within 15 days. Also tell the seller and your clinician.

Why bother04

Does a single report matter?

Yes. FDA acts after products are on the market, and reports are one of the ways it learns of problems.

FDA regulates finished supplements and generally acts after sale (FDA, Dietary Supplements). It also does not test supplements before they reach consumers (FDA, Q&A on Dietary Supplements). Your report helps fill that gap.
