Boron in SodaPeak: What the NIH Says About Boron and Testosterone
Boron in SodaPeak is a boron amino acid chelate, listed last in the blend, so it weighs at most 150 mg of the compound per two capsules, and the label gives no boron figure. The NIH fact sheet does not address testosterone in men. It sets an adult upper limit of 20 mg of boron a day and calls the evidence for bones and joints preliminary.

What it is01
What is boron in SodaPeak?
Boron is a trace mineral. The SodaPeak panel lists it last, as "Boron Amino Acid Chelate", which means boron bound to amino acids. The label does not say which amino acid or how much boron the chelate holds.
That last point matters most. A chelate is a compound, and the boron is only part of its weight. A 150 mg ceiling for the chelate, which is what eighth place allows by order (21 CFR 101.36 (eCFR)), could mean a few milligrams of boron or less. The label cannot tell you.
The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements gives the reference figures: the median diet supplies about 0.87 to 1.35 mg of boron a day, and food and supplements together give about 1.0 to 1.5 mg (NIH ODS, Boron).
| Name on the label | Boron Amino Acid Chelate |
|---|---|
| What it is | Boron bound to amino acids; the label does not say which amino acid or how much boron it holds |
| Place on the panel | 8 of 8 in the blend |
| Amount per serving of 2 capsules | not printed; 150 mg at most by label order |
| Same ceiling at 1 capsule | 75 mg at most |
| Amount used in research | Upper limit 20 mg of boron a day for adults; food and supplements together give about 1.0 to 1.5 mg a day |
| Strength of evidence | NIH ODS: evidence for bone and joint use is preliminary; the fact sheet does not address testosterone in men |
| Marketed or traditional use | Sold as a trace mineral |
| Main caution | NIH ODS: not known to interact with medicines at usual intakes; very large amounts of boric acid or borax can be fatal. |

The big question02
Does boron raise testosterone?
The NIH fact sheet does not address testosterone in men. It reports that boron might affect steroid hormone function and that a low-boron diet might lower estrogen in postmenopausal women (NIH ODS, Boron).
Those are the only hormone remarks in the source, and neither concerns testosterone in men. Searches such as "boron and testosterone", "boron for testosterone" and "boron citrate testosterone" are common, but a search term is not evidence. The reliable source we use is silent on that question, and this site makes no claim about it.
The fact sheet not covering testosterone does not prove boron has no effect. It means this source does not support a testosterone claim, and so neither can a label that leans on one.
| Topic | What the source says |
|---|---|
| Testosterone in men | Not addressed |
| Steroid hormone function | Boron might affect it |
| Osteoarthritis and bone health | Evidence preliminary or inconclusive |
| Cancer | No trial has tested boron for cancer |
| Medicine interactions | Not known to have clinically relevant interactions |
Limits03
What is the upper limit for boron?
For adults 19 and older the tolerable upper intake level is 20 mg of boron a day. Very large amounts of boric acid or borax, 15,000 to 20,000 mg, can be fatal (NIH ODS, Boron).
A 150 mg compound ceiling is far below a fatal amount. Whether the boron inside sits near the 20 mg daily limit cannot be told, because the label gives no boron figure. Add boron from other supplements, a multivitamin or well water, and the tally is yours to keep.
Check other labels
Some multivitamins list boron. Add them up against the 20 mg limit.
Ask about the chelate
Ask the maker how many milligrams of boron a capsule contains.
Keep it simple
If you cannot find the boron figure, do not assume it is high or low.

See packsHow much04
How much boron is in SodaPeak?
The label does not say. The ceiling for the chelate is 150 mg per two capsules, and the boron inside is a fraction of that.
The bars set the 150 mg ceiling beside the NIH limit. They are not comparable, because one is a compound's weight and the other is boron's weight, and the page marks that on the second bar instead of drawing a false match.
Before you buy05
Should I take boron for testosterone?
If your question is about testosterone, start with a test and a clinician. Mayo Clinic says testosterone drops about 1% a year after age 30 or 40 and that low energy and low drive have many other causes (Mayo Clinic, Testosterone and aging).
A morning blood draw, read with your symptoms, is the way to find out (MedlinePlus, Testosterone Test). The testosterone and aging page explains what changes and when to test, and the testosterone boosters page covers the whole category.
Never change a prescribed medicine because of a supplement. Chest pain, trouble breathing or fainting means 911.
FAQ06
SodaPeak questions people ask
Does boron increase testosterone?
The NIH fact sheet does not address testosterone in men. It says boron might affect steroid hormone function. No claim about testosterone is made for SodaPeak.
What is a boron amino acid chelate?
It is boron bound to amino acids. The SodaPeak label does not say which amino acid or how many milligrams of boron it contains.
How much boron is safe per day?
The NIH upper limit for adults 19 and older is 20 mg of boron a day. Typical diets supply about 0.87 to 1.35 mg.
Is boron citrate the same as boron chelate?
They are different compounds. The SodaPeak label lists an amino acid chelate, not citrate, so research on boron citrate does not automatically apply.
Does boron interact with medicines?
The NIH fact sheet says boron is not known to have clinically relevant medicine interactions at usual intakes. Still tell your pharmacist about every supplement.
Is boron good for men?
The NIH fact sheet reports preliminary evidence for osteoarthritis and bone health and does not address men's testosterone. It makes no men's claim.
