How it works

How Does SodaPeak Work? What Eight Names in One Blend Can and Cannot Do

Quick answer

SodaPeak works the way any capsule supplement works: you swallow two capsules with water, and the eight names in the 1,200 mg blend are digested. Whether that blend changes anything in your body has not been tested. The label prints no amount for any name, and the research that exists covers single herbs, mostly in other amounts.

The basics01

How does SodaPeak work?

SodaPeak is a capsule: you swallow it, and the contents are digested like any other supplement. What the contents do in the body is the open question, and no study of SodaPeak answers it.

The Supplement Facts panel lists one "Test Boost Proprietary Blend" of 1,200 mg per serving of 2 capsules. Under that total sit eight names: horny goat weed, tongkat ali, saw palmetto, nettle root, wild yam, sarsaparilla, orchic substance and a boron amino acid chelate. Six are plant parts, one is animal-derived and one is a mineral compound.

The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements points out that for multi-ingredient exercise products one "cannot know or predict the effects and safety of combinations" (NIH ODS, Exercise supplements). That sentence is the plain answer to "how does it work": nobody knows, because the combination has not been studied.

The bottle front says "SUPPORTS HEALTHY MUSCLE*". The star leads to the FDA statement, which says the claim has not been evaluated (FDA, Structure/Function Claims). That is a wording rule, not a mechanism.

The eight names02

What does each name in the SodaPeak formula do?

Each name has a traditional use and a small research record, and none of them is a proven way to change testosterone, sexual performance or muscle in this product. The table gives the record in one line each.

The eight label names and what the sources say
PlaceNameWhat the source says
1Horny goat weedMemorial Sloan Kettering: scientific evidence is limited; it is a traditional herb, not studied in trials for fatigue (MSK, Epimedium)
2Tongkat aliLiverTox: mild rises in total testosterone in human studies, not linked to better performance; safety not established by a 2021 EFSA opinion (NIDDK LiverTox, Tongkat Ali)
3Saw palmettoNCCIH: probably not helpful for urinary symptoms of an enlarged prostate (NCCIH, Saw Palmetto)
4Nettle rootMemorial Sloan Kettering: may ease prostate-related urinary symptoms in combinations; the single-herb effect is unclear (MSK, Nettle)
5Wild yamMemorial Sloan Kettering: no evidence the body converts diosgenin into progesterone (MSK, Wild Yam)
6SarsaparillaMemorial Sloan Kettering: uses rest on lab and animal studies; no clinical studies (MSK, Smilax glabra)
7Orchic substanceRxList: insufficient evidence to rate; not enough reliable information on safety (RxList, Orchic Extract)
8Boron chelateNIH: evidence for bone and joints is preliminary; the fact sheet does not address testosterone in men (NIH ODS, Boron)

Each of these has its own page in the series: start with tongkat ali and horny goat weed, which hold the first two places in the blend.

The label order03

What does the SodaPeak formula order tell you?

The order is the only amount information on the bottle. Federal rules require the names in a blend to be listed from the heaviest to the lightest (21 CFR 101.36 (eCFR)).

With a total of 1,200 mg, the first name weighs at least 150 mg, and any name in place n weighs at most 1,200 divided by n. So horny goat weed can be as much as 1,200 mg or as little as 150, tongkat ali up to 600, and boron chelate up to 150 mg of the chelate. These are limits, not amounts. The real split could sit anywhere inside them.

Two readers can see two different products on the same panel: a first line at 1,000 mg with traces after it, or eight lines near 150 mg each. The panel supports both pictures.

Amounts vs research04

Does SodaPeak contain a studied amount?

The label cannot say, because it prints no amounts. For tongkat ali there is a range to compare, and for boron there is a safety limit, and neither comparison settles anything about this capsule.

LiverTox lists 100 to 400 mg a day as the traditional dose of tongkat ali and notes many online products at 1,000 to 1,600 mg (NIDDK LiverTox, Tongkat Ali). NIH sets an upper limit of 20 mg of boron a day for adults (NIH ODS, Boron). The bars show the room the label order leaves next to those figures.

  • Tongkat ali

Room for up to 600 mg
The most one serving of 2 capsules can hold (label order)600 mg
100 to 400 mg a day is the traditional range (LiverTox); many products hold 1,000 to 1,600 mg100-400 mg

The room the label order leaves (600 mg at most) is wider than the studied range, so the label can neither rule the studied amount in nor out. It could hold far less. The label prints no amount. (NIDDK LiverTox, Tongkat Ali)

  • Boron amino acid chelate

Room for up to 150 mg of chelate
The most one serving of 2 capsules can hold (label order)150 mg
20 mg of boron a day is the adult upper limit (NIH ODS); the label gives no boron figure for the chelateno boron figure

The label gives the chelate's place in the list, not the boron inside it, so the 20 mg a day adult upper limit for boron cannot be set against it. (NIH ODS, Boron)

Copper bars: the ceiling the label order allows for one serving. Green bars: the amount a source names, laid on the same scale. A ceiling is not a measured amount. Taking 1 capsule instead of 2 halves every ceiling, and no study tested SodaPeak.

A common question05

Does SodaPeak work like testosterone therapy?

No. Testosterone therapy is a prescription drug approved only for men who have low testosterone with a medical cause, and SodaPeak is a dietary supplement with no such approval (FDA, Testosterone Information).

The blend is called "Test Boost" on the panel. That is a product name, not a finding. Mayo Clinic says testosterone drops by about 1% a year after age 30 or 40, that a doctor must tell normal aging from disease, and that low desire, low energy and less muscle can come from other causes such as medicines, sleep apnea, thyroid problems, diabetes or depression (Mayo Clinic, Testosterone and aging).

What a test shows

A testosterone test is a morning blood draw, usually between 7 and 10 a.m., read by a provider with your symptoms. One result cannot diagnose a condition (MedlinePlus, Testosterone Test). Read when to see a doctor.

Tracking06

How would I know if SodaPeak is doing anything?

You would need a baseline before the first capsule and a way to measure what you care about afterward. Without both, a good week and a bad week look the same.

Pick numbers that do not depend on mood: the weight, sets and repetitions of three lifts, hours of sleep, and a 1 to 5 energy rating at the same hour each day. For hormones, only a clinician-ordered blood test counts.

  1. Write the baseline

Two weeks of lifts, sleep and energy before you start.

  2. Change one thing

Start the capsules and keep training, food and sleep the same.

  3. Compare at four weeks

If numbers move, ask whether training or sleep changed. If nothing moves, that is also information.

The results timeline gives a longer plan, and lifting and protein covers what has the strongest sources behind it.

Before you start07

What should I check before taking SodaPeak?

Check your medicines, your liver and your reasons. Several sources flag blood thinners, blood pressure medicine and hormone-sensitive conditions for names on this label.

FDA has also found hidden drugs in products sold for sexual enhancement and bodybuilding, and says a product missing from its lists is not thereby safe (FDA, Tainted Sexual Enhancement). Tell your doctor and pharmacist about every supplement you take (NCCIH, Using Supplements Wisely). Keep taking any prescribed medicine exactly as directed.

Names on the SodaPeak label that a source flags:

  • Horny goat weed
  • Tongkat ali
  • Saw palmetto
  • Nettle root
  • Wild yam
  • Sarsaparilla
  • Orchic substance
  • Boron amino acid chelate

MSK says saw palmetto may increase bruising and bleeding with warfarin and other blood thinners, may add to antiplatelet drugs such as clopidogrel, and may add to the side effects of NSAIDs. It also lists serious bleeding case reports.

Interaction notes from (NCCIH, Saw Palmetto) (MSK, Saw Palmetto) (MSK, Epimedium) (NIDDK LiverTox, Tongkat Ali) (MSK, Nettle) (MSK, Wild Yam) (MSK, Smilax glabra) (RxList, Orchic Extract). Not a complete list. The label prints no amounts for these names, so nobody can say how strong any effect would be. Ask your pharmacist with the bottle in hand, and never stop or change a prescribed medicine on your own.

Stop and get care

Yellow skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, chest pain, trouble breathing or fainting after any supplement: stop it and get care. Call 911 for chest pain with trouble breathing.

FAQ08

SodaPeak questions people ask

What does SodaPeak do?

No study shows what SodaPeak does. The bottle says it supports healthy muscle, a wording rule that FDA says has not been evaluated. Its eight names are traditional herbs and compounds with mixed or thin research.

What is the SodaPeak formula?

The formula is one Test Boost Proprietary Blend of 1,200 mg per serving of 2 capsules, listing eight names in order from heaviest to lightest. The panel prints no amount for any name.

Is SodaPeak a testosterone booster?

The panel calls the blend Test Boost, but no source linked here shows that this product changes testosterone. Tongkat ali alone showed mild rises in total testosterone in human studies, not linked to better performance.

Can SodaPeak replace a doctor visit?

No. Low energy, low drive and less muscle have many causes, and only a clinician can order and read a test. Seeing a doctor first is safer than guessing with a supplement.

Does the number of capsules change how it works?

Only the dose changes. The panel serving is two capsules, and the seller's brief allows one or two daily. If the capsules are equal, one holds half the blend.

Why do the label and the seller's brief list different names?

The brief lists six herbs, and the bottle panel lists eight, adding orchic substance and a boron amino acid chelate. This site follows the label, and you should check your own bottle.
