Third-Party Tested Supplements: What the Phrase Needs Before It Means Anything
Third-party tested means an independent lab examined the product. The phrase only counts with a named lab, the lot tested, the methods and the results. FDA generally does not test supplements before they reach consumers. The SodaPeak seller does not claim third-party testing, and no lab report is published.

Meaning01
What does third-party tested mean?
An independent laboratory, not the maker, examined the product.
It matters because FDA generally does not test supplements before they reach consumers, and firms are responsible for safety and labeling (FDA, Q&A on Dietary Supplements). Independent testing is one of the few outside checks a buyer can ask for.
A real report02
What must a real report show?
Who tested, which lot, what was tested for and the results.
| Item | Real report | Badge only |
|---|---|---|
| Named lab | Yes, with contact details | Often none |
| Lot number | Matches your bottle | Not given |
| Tests run | Identity, amounts, heavy metals, drug screen | Not given |
| Results | Numbers | None |
A badge that names no certifier is a claim by the seller. The testing and quality page explains each badge on the SodaPeak materials.
SodaPeak03
What does the SodaPeak seller state?
It does not claim third-party testing, and no lab report is published.
The lot number and certificate number in its materials are references, not reports, and this site does not treat them as tests. Because FDA warns that some products in this category contain hidden drugs (FDA, Tainted Sexual Enhancement), the absence of a report is a gap worth stating.
Names on the SodaPeak label that a source flags:
- Horny goat weed
- Tongkat ali
- Saw palmetto
- Nettle root
- Wild yam
- Sarsaparilla
- Orchic substance
- Boron amino acid chelate
MSK says saw palmetto may increase bruising and bleeding with warfarin and other blood thinners, may add to antiplatelet drugs such as clopidogrel, and may add to the side effects of NSAIDs. It also lists serious bleeding case reports.
Interaction notes from (NCCIH, Saw Palmetto) (MSK, Saw Palmetto) (MSK, Epimedium) (NIDDK LiverTox, Tongkat Ali) (MSK, Nettle) (MSK, Wild Yam) (MSK, Smilax glabra) (RxList, Orchic Extract). Not a complete list. The label prints no amounts for these names, so nobody can say how strong any effect would be. Ask your pharmacist with the bottle in hand, and never stop or change a prescribed medicine on your own.
